Spigot Damage

We recently received a call from a Sioux Falls area homeowner about water damage in the basement. They had turned on their outdoor spigot to water some plants and found water in their basement upon coming in to their home. Our team arrived quickly and begin the mitigation process!

Emergency Commercial Water Restoration

Our team recently received an early morning call from a high end hotel in Sioux Falls. Someone had placed an item of clothing on the sprinkler system in their room. While out of the room, the sprinkler broke and left water running in to the room, as well as surrounding rooms, and floors beneath the initial loss.

Demo time

As a restoration company, SERVPRO of Sioux Falls always aims to restore over replacing materials. Our goal is to save the customer money and time by drying materials in place. We have an assortment of tools and equipment at our disposal that can help us dry behind drywall and other hard surfaces such as flooring. However, as you can see in the photo, sometimes we need to do some demolition to better get access to the water damage to properly dry it.

Using our Infrared camera system to track the movement of water where we can’t easily access

The advantages of Technology

When our technicians arrive on the scene of a water loss they first assess the damage that is obvious and visible to them. More often than not, however, water damage is often hidden behind drywall or other structures. Before cutting out any drywall we will use our FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed) camera to spot the movement of water. The FLIR doesn’t measure moisture, however, it does allow us to see disparities in temperature, which is an easy way to check if water damage has taken place behind a wall.

Tight spaces

Our water damage restoration work often takes us in to difficult to access parts of homes or businesses. As you can see in the photo of this Sioux Falls area home, we recently had to venture up in to the attic to dry out the space after water seeped through the roof.

Multi-Level damage

On the scene of a recent water loss in Sioux Falls, our team discovered that a broken water line in a refrigerator on the main floor had led to water seeping down through the floor and affecting the drywall and ceiling of the basement below the kitchen.

Water extraction in Sioux Falls

In this photo, one of our employees is using a water extraction wand to pull excess moisture out of an affected carpeted area. In this case, the carpet sustained heavy water saturation. We used our truck mounted extraction system to get as much moisture out as possible before placing our drying equipment.

Equipment in place

After any necessary extraction is completed, our IICRC certified technicians are able to begin placing equipment strategically to aid the drying process. Equipment such as dehumidifiers and fans are placed according to a variety of factors such as humidity level, area affected, and source of water loss.

Frozen Cabin

With record low temperatures in the South Dakota area, we got many calls for water extraction due to frozen pipes. This particular property was a cabin resort where a failed heater caused low interior temperatures that caused the burst pipe.

Drying blanket for wood floors

We were recently contacted by a local Sioux Falls restaurant to help them with a sprinkler system failure.  Due to the cold temperatures in the area as of late, the system froze and broke, letting water fall on to the finished wood floors.

With a quick response and the use of our drying blanket, we were able to help dry the wood floor before permanent damage set in.

The gang’s all here

This photo is from a recent water loss in the Sioux Falls area. A pipe fitting malfunctioned in the bathroom upstairs, leading to about a half an inch of standing water throughout the basement. Our team arrived promptly and removed affected materials and began to place fans to begin the drying process.

What better way to spend a cold November day than laying on a nice heated blanket. Well, its not technically a blanket, but we can’t blame or furry friend for lounging on it. Our drying mats use a combination of moving air and heat to help us dry out flooring quicker.

Water leak behind washing machine

Hidden Water Leaks

Be sure to make regular inspections behind the appliances in your home. Particularly appliances that use water such as refrigerators, washers, and water heaters. A large leak or loss will be noticeable, however, a small, slow loss can go undetected and allow the growth of mold.
